Can I use the JR Pass on the Nozomi bullet train?
No, the standard JR Pass cannot be used on Nozomi or Mizuho Shinkansen trains. You can ride Hikari and Kodama trains on the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen instead. The Hikari is only slightly slower and makes a few more stops.
How do I activate my Japan Rail Pass?
After purchasing online, you will receive an exchange order. At a JR ticket office in Japan (available at major airports and stations), present your exchange order and passport to receive the physical pass. Choose your activation date at that time.
Can I reserve seats with the JR Pass?
Yes, JR Pass holders can reserve seats for free at any JR ticket office or through some online reservation systems. While not required on most trains (you can sit in unreserved cars), reservations are recommended during peak travel periods.
